It’s always fun to work with photographer Robert Christ and his friend Martin Schiffl, cause they’re full of creative ideas and always down to go on a mission. This time it was not only about getting a photot, but they filmed a whole video with the homies, who are just as passionate about skating. Watch André Gerlich, Patrick Wenz, Ryota Takehisa, Matthias Flentje, Ruben Lücke, Jonas Immensberger, Georg Anders, Aladin Cabart and many more.
Robert about the video:
“Martin definitely started this video project. When our VX became increasingly unreliable, he got an HD camera and made it work with an MK 1. In the beginning, Martin had the idea of filming a part with me, but I didn’t feel comfortable as a solo entertainer in front of the camera and thought my skating was simply far too lousy for that. So I came up with the idea of involving a few homies in the project and their clips became more and more. At some point, Martin showed me how to use the cam and from then on, I had it in my hands most of the time. Martin needed a break from filming anyway. At first I was worried about the fisheye, but Martin just said “the fisheye is there to film with, so go as close as possible, if it’s broken, so be it”. So the hard drive with footy got fuller and fuller and the list of those we had footy from got bigger and bigger. Martin then went into his editing bunker. A few “final deadlines” followed, until in the end only the name was missing. After pondering for a while, I asked him if there was anything that was said frequently in the video? Two days later, he sent me a new edit including my “YipYip’s”, my strange-sounding exclamations of joy. So the video finally had a name and was ready to celebrate its premiere together with the homies. A big thank you goes to Martin for starting this project, his trust and all the effort he has put into it. YIP YIP!”
